Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. The charity now works with over 960 Primary, Secondary, ASL/Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units in disadvantaged areas of England and Scotland, helping to reach around 167,000 children to ensure they start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons.
This is the 3rd year Hillsborough Primary have worked in partnership with Magic Breakfast. Through this work we are able to ensure that ALL pupils are offered a free breakfast every day. Fresh bagels are cooked and delivered to all classrooms (from Nursery to Y6). Our aim is to ensure no child starts the day hungry. Research has shown hungry children cannot concentrate in school. At Hillsborough we want all our children to reach their academic potential.
Marcus Rashford has partnered with Magic Breakfast to provide free books to schools. We received copies of ‘A Dinosaur Ate My Sister’ by Pooja Puri and ‘Silas and the Marvellous Misfits’ by Tom Percival. Our books are available to all children in the school library.
We are also able to access free breakfasts for families who may require extra support during the school holidays.
