Hillsborough Music Action Plan
Excellent music education opens opportunities. It gives children and young people an opportunity to express themselves, to explore their creativity, to work hard at something, persevere and shine. These experiences and achievements stay with them and shape their lives. That is why music is an essential part of a broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils. It must not be the preserve of the privileged few. Music should be planned and taught as robustly as any other foundation curriculum subject. At Hillsborough, we teach music from the Early Years through to KS2. In Lower KS2, children have the opportunity to learn how to play a brass instrument as part of our ongoing work with the Sheffield Music Hub.
Our action plan sets our what we are aiming to achieve in the next three years to help and support our teachers, improve our provision in school and deliver better outcomes for all pupils.
